The sport is definitely growing in America, and I think it's the direct result of ESPNU. So many people carry their college loyalties over to other sports, and the loss of interest in hockey coupled with the expanded availability of lacrosse makes for a boom in popularity.
I bet free broadcasting won't do much to expand the fan base, but will definitely strengthen the current one.
